Introduction
Modern psychology has long been shaped by narrow perspectives, often built on limited datasets that do not reflect the full spectrum of human experience. Neurodivergence is not a disorder; it is an evolution of perception. Many individuals process the world through heightened sensory and energetic intelligence—an ability often dismissed or misunderstood by traditional psychology.
To redefine this understanding, we introduce four key terms that recognize and honor these abilities: Neurognostic, Sensory Intuitive, Autognostic, and Psyneosentient.
Neurognostic (Ner-oh-NOS-tik)
(Neuro = nervous system, Gnostic = knowledge/insight)
A Neurognostic individual perceives deep sensory, emotional, and energetic information beyond conventional neurotypical awareness. Rather than relying solely on verbal or visual cues, they intuitively process a room’s atmosphere, detect micro-expressions, and sense emotional shifts with precision.
Neurognostic perception allows someone to ‘read’ a room through energy shifts, sounds, and micro-expressions without direct interaction.
A Call for Change
Psychology and its outdated "expectations of normalcy" are due for an evolution. The rigid systems of classification that define neurotypicality as a gold standard are rooted in limited studies of privileged demographics. It is time for a revolution in understanding human perception—one that acknowledges interconnectedness, sensory intelligence, and the vast potential of neurodivergence.
